About Us

Tanya Stephenson, M. Sc. (Ed.)

Tanya is the proud mother of three wonderful children.   One of her twins was diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder at the age of 21 months.   Tanya spent several years running a home IBI program for her son after his diagnosis.

Previously, Tanya worked in the field of acquired brain injury for several years as a Program Coordinator for both residential and community based rehabilitation programs.   She had the pleasure of working with a variety of disciplines including Behavioural Psychology, Neuropsychology, Physiatry, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Pathology, Social Work, and Education.   She left this field to pursue a career in education.

Tanya is also a certified teacher employed with one of the school boards in Simcoe County.   She has held this position since 1999.   Working in the medical and education sectors brought together unique skill sets that allowed her to run an excellent home program for her son when he was diagnosed in 2004.   She was often approached by other parents to provide the guidance and support needed to assist them in running their own home IBI program.

In November 2007, after her son was successfully integrated into the school system from his home and community based IBI program,  Therapy Within Reach was launched.
